The Battle of Britain caused many airplane crashes, especially of Luftwaffe planes. The Battle of Britain is considered the first large scale military campaign fought by air forces and it took place in 1940. The nighttime attacks during the Battle of Britain, known as the Blitz, involved massive air attacks from Germans against important areas in the United Kingdom. Common Luftwaffe military bombers included the Dornier Do 17, Junkers Ju 88, Junkers Ju 87 Stuka, and the Heinkel He 111. The inherent vulnerabilities after dive bombing and relatively low speed made the Junkers Ju 87 Stuka an aircraft model with many losses.
